Lesson Plans for May 8-12, 2017

Objective:  Students to use the Internet to find research information for their topic

Assessment:  Students to locate and print research from at least two different websites or sources. They are to also highlight information on the printouts that they believe they will use on their slides.  Will be due by the end of class Tuesday for a daily grade.

Wednesday-

Objective:  Students to outline ideas for PowerPoint project

Assessment: Students to turn in outline sheet of ideas by the end of class for a daily grade.

Thursday-Friday-

Objective:  Further knowledge of PowerPoint by creating a slide show based on research for chosen topic

Assessment: Completed PowerPoint project will be due at the end of class next Friday, May 19, 2017 and will count as a test grade.  **Students must have printed research and all sources cited to receive credit for project. **

Topics:  Review of Microsoft Excel topics

Activities:  We will discuss/review topics from Microsoft Excel and go through practice exercises in the MOS Study Guide in preparation of this week’s MOS certification test.

Monday-

Topics:  Excel chart test results

Activities:  Students to receive back graded Excel Chart tests; discuss; students to then correct questions (and computer actions) missed as needed on notebook paper.

Tuesday-Thursday

Topics:  Discovering financial costs project

Activities:  Discuss the “Discovering financial costs project”.  Students to do research to discover costs required in order to live on their own. Students will also calculate pay from a part-time and full-time job making minimum wage.  students will then put research findings into Excel to create a spreadsheet as well as an Excel chart.  Project will count as two daily grades.

Activities:  Students are to complete Job 61 (line chart) and Job 62 (3-D horizontal bar chart) using their notes and computer.  Save and print when complete.

Topics:  Reinforcement of Excel Charts

Activity:  What Color are your Skittles?

Wednesday-

Topics: Review of Excel Charts

Activities:  Students to complete the Test review questions over Excel charts using their notes.  If don’t finish in class, for homework.  Due at the first of class Thursday.

Thursday-

Topics:  Review of Excel Charts

Activities:  Students to participate in Test review game.  Winning students or team will receive 5 bonus points towards their test grade.

Activities:  Students to take notes, participate in discussions, then complete Jobs 13 & 60 on the computer.  Save and print where indicated.

STAAR English I EOC Testing- If not taking test, please bring something to work on.

Activities: Students are to complete Job 61 (line chart) and Job 62 (3-D horizontal bar chart) using their notes and computer.  Save and print when complete.

Activities:  Students will take notes, practice new function on computer, then complete the reinforcement exercise on the computer (Job 36).  Students are to save and print work when completed.
