Monday-

Topics:  Exam results; objectives for next chapter

Activities:  Students to define the vocabulary for Excel charts on opp. 506-507, 520, 526, 530 (20 words total).  If typed, students are to save work as Excel chart vocab into the Excel folder of their flash drive.  Print when complete.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Review of Excel charts; creating a column chart

Activities:  Students will take notes over Excel charts/Column charts and practice new learning on computer.

Wednesday-

Topics:  Column charts

Activities:  Students to complete Job 58 over creating a column chart in Excel on the computer.  Save and print when complete.

Thursday-

Topics:  Pie Charts

Activities:  Students to take notes over Pie charts in Excel and practice new learning on computer.

Friday-

Topics:  Pie Charts

Activities:  Students to complete Jobs 13 and 60 over creating a spreadsheet and pie chart in Excel on the computer.  Save and print when complete.

Monday-

Topics:  Semester exam review

Activities:  Students will complete semester exam review over functions in Excel.  If don’t finish in class, for homework.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Semester exam review

Activities:  Will go over correct answers to semester exam review.   Time will be given to go over how to set up any functions or formatting in Excel on the computer.

Wednesday-

Exams  for Periods 7, 1, and 2

Thursday-

Exams for Periods 8, 3, and 4

Friday-

Exams for Periods 5 and 6

Lesson Plans for December 8-12, 2014

Monday-

Topics:  Review of other common functions (SUM, AVERAGE, MAX, MIN, COUNT)

Activities:  Students to take notes, practice functions with teacher, then complete function review on computer (Class grades).  Must use functions, not regular formulas.  Save and print when complete.

Tuesday-

Topics:  IF function

Activities:  Students to take notes, practice functions with teacher, then complete the “No jacket needed” exercise over the IF function on the computer.  Save and print when complete.

Wednesday

Topics:  PMT function

Activities:  Students to take notes, practice functions with teacher, then complete exercise over PMT function on computer (COMP).   Save and print when complete.

Thursday-Friday

Topics:  Reinforcement of PMT function and other personal business topics

Activities:  Students are to find two vehicles that they would like to purchase.  Must find cost of vehicle on Internet and note website where found.  Students are to then figure out monthly payments on their vehicles given different criteria.  Save and print when complete.

Activities:  Students to complete Job 14 over formulas on the computer.  Save and print when complete.

Thursday-

Topics:  Reinforcement of Excel formulas.

Activities:  Students to complete Job 6 over formulas on the computer.  SAve and print when complete.

Friday-

Topics:  Review of Excel functions; SUM function

Activities:  Students to take notes, then complete Job 29 over the SUM function on the computer.  Save and print when complete.

Activities:  Students to complete written test review over Desktop Publishing topics using their notes and/or books.

Activities:  Students will participate in Desktop Publishing review game.  Winning team will win 5 bonus points to go towards their test.

Topics:  Test knowledge of Desktop Publishing

Lesson Plans for October 13-17, 2014

Monday-

Topics:   Writing a semi-formal email

Activities:  Students will take notes, participate in discussion; and with a partner, compose an email (on paper) to a tourist information center of their choice asking certain questions or requesting certain information.  Students will then swap their rough draft email with another group for proofreading. If time, type and send email to tourist center and to Ms. Davis

Tuesday-

Topics:  Writing and answering a semi-formal email

Activities:  If did not have time yesterday, students will type and send email to tourist center.

Wednesday-

PSAT testing.  Students to bring something to work on.

Thursday-

Topics:  Review knowledge of business communication (written)

Activities:  Students to complete the written review using their notes

Friday-

Topics:  Review knowledge of written business communication

Activities:  Review sheets due.  Students will then participate in review game over written business communication.  Test Monday!

Lesson Plans for Sept. 29-Oct. 3, 2014

Monday-

Topics:  Discuss the parts and formatting of a personal business letter, reasons to send a personal business letter

Activities:  Students to take notes and participate in discussion.  Students will then come up with an idea to send a real personal business letter with the objective of either informing, persuading, complaining, etc.  Students must get idea approval before beginning research as to address and contact information of the letter.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Recap of yesterday’s assignment of composing an original personal business letter

Activities:  Students to finish composing and typing their original personal business letter from yesterday.  Save as: personal business letter and print.

Wednesday-

Topics:  Professionalism and proofreading

Activities:  Review proofreading symbols with class.  Students to then exchange their printed personal business letters with a partner.  Each student will then proofread and mark any errors or any suggestions that they feel necessary (using appropriate proofreading symbols). Students will then re-exchange letters and correct any errors that were found.  Students should also run Spell Check, resave, and print to turn in for a daily grade.

Thursday-

Topics:  Final suggestions on letter; how to print an envelope

Activities:  Students to make any final corrections marked by Ms. Davis.  Resave and reprint final copy of letter.  Students will then print an envelope with appropriate return and shipping addresses in order to mail their letters.  Students will turn in letter and envelope to Ms. Davis for mailing.

Friday-

Topics:  Average and missing work

Activities:  Students will be given time to work on any missing or unfinished work as needed.

Activities: Students to turn in signed progress reports.  Discuss test results and answer any questions about test.

Tuesday-

SAT boot camp.  Students will need to bring something to work on or read.

Wednesday-

Topics:  Memos

Activities:  Students will listen, take notes, and participate in discussion about using memos in a business.  Sample topics: what a memo is, parts and spacing.  Students will brainstorm a list of reasons why one might send a memo.  Students will then compose an original memo on the computer.  Save and print when complete.

Thursday-

Topics:  Business letters

Activities: Students will listen, take notes, and participate in discussion about business letters in a business.  Example topics:  what is a business letter, parts and spacing, etc.  Students to then type the sample business letter.
