About BIM II; Getting to know you activities

Tuesday-

Discuss class procedures, acceptable use policies, school supplies, etc.

Homework:  get receipt of class procedures signed by parents and have parent subscribe to BIM II blog by Friday, August 26 (daily grade).  Also, work on getting school supplies by Tuesday, August 30.

Wednesday-

Discuss how to log on and use Google drive

Thursday-

Review the basics of blogs and e-portfolios

Friday-

Homework due:  Classroom procedures signed by parent and parent subscribed to BIM II blog (Daily grade)

Topics:  Review blogs

Activities:  Recap blog basics then have students go through the blog basics checklist.  Students to finish updating their About me page then make a new post about their first week in school.

Welcome to BIM II

Welcome to Business Information Management II (BIM II)!  In this class, students will apply skills to address business applications of emerging technologies, create complex word-processing documents, develop sophisticated spreadsheets using charts and graphs, and make an electronic presentation using appropriate multimedia software. Students will also complete a career unit in which they will investigate different careers of interest, learn how to fill out job applications, create resumes and cover letters, and interviewing techniques.  Students will also participate in creating and running a mock business within the school.

Prerequisite:  Business Information Management I (BIM I)

Supplies:

Three ring notebook

Package of dividers (5)

Pencil and pens

Red pen

Notebook paper or spiral

Ear buds or headphones

Flash drive (to be left in classroom)

Lesson Plans will be posted to this website weekly.  Remember, it is your responsibility to make up any missing assignments if you are absent for any reason.

Lesson Plans for BIM II- April 18-22, 2016

Monday-

Topics:  Overview of Business simulation project

Activities:   Discuss guidelines for project; group assignments; each group to brainstorm list of different entrepreneurial opportunities that could be accomplished within a school setting

Tuesday-Wednesday

Topics:  How to conduct an effective survey

Activities:  Each group to design a survey to identify business trends (or needs of their fellow students).  Each group to submit their typed surveys to the teacher by the end of class Wednesday.

Thursday-Friday

Activities:  Discuss corrections to surveys as needed. Copy and distribute surveys to teachers to have students complete during enrichment on Monday.

Lesson Plans for BIM II- April 11-15, 2016

Monday-

Topics:  Presentation of Travel Agency project

Activities:  Students will be given time to prepare their Travel Agency presentations to me and the class.  Can use time to make notecards, print notes out of PowerPoint, make revisions to presentation, etc.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Presentation of Travel Agency project

Activities:  Students will present their Travel Agency Projects to the class.  Goal is for them to convince Mrs. Ross to choose their travel agency over their classmates travel agencies.

Lesson Plans for BIM II: March 28-April 1, 2016

Monday-

Topics:  T-shirt

Activities: Students will design a T-shirt for their travel agency based on set criteria.

Tuesday-Thursday

Topics:  How to create a Tri-fold brochure

Activities:  Students will create a tri-fold brochure for their Travel Agency to use for advertising and promoting 1 of their vacation packages.  Must include set criteria.  Will be due by the end of class Thursday.

Friday-

Topics: Discuss creating a PowerPoint presentation to SELL their Travel Agencies services

Activities:  Students will begin creating their PowerPoint presentation using set criteria.  Completed presentation will be due next Wednesday by the end of class.  Will present to classmates next Friday.

Lesson Plans for March 14-18, 2016

Monday-

Topics:  Discuss the “Owning a Travel Agency, Business Simulation” project; discuss what a logo is

Activities;  Students will participate in “guess the logo game” online; they will then come up with a business name and logo for their company including set criteria.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Discuss what a slogan is; look at sample slogans

Activities:  Students are to create a slogan for their travel agency based on set criteria

Wednesday-Thursday

Topics:  Discuss how to create business cards and what should be included

Activities:  Students to design a business card for their travel agency

Friday-

Topics/Activities:  Students to finish any project tasks that were not complete Monday-Thursday.
